Our SERVICES.

MISSION.

OCEAN REVIVE is a startup at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We are the inventors of Maritechture technologies, now being further developed under OCEAN REVIVE REEF TOOLS. OR is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of scientists with decades of collective experience in tropical marine ecosystems, coral, seagrass and mangrove ecology, genomics, and material sciences. We provide a deep understanding of marine organisms and restoration strategies, offering first access to newly developed, science-based technologies and techniques to achieve a range of outcomes. Our approach takes marine restoration and coral gardening beyond the state-of-the-art, by directly integrating and implementing next-generation restoration technologies and techniques derived from our most recent scientific findings and creatively tailored to the individual needs of each project.

The portfolio of consultancy services offered by OR is embedded within three main strategies:

  1. Deliver innovative science-based technologies and strategies to scale the conservation, enhancement, and repopulation of natural coral reef, mangrove forests and seagrass meadows, and create new artificial habitats underwater as well as on land.

  2. Provide ground-breaking next-generation solutions to increase coral resilience to climate change through maintaining genotypic architecture and diversity (increasing naturally occurring stress-tolerant corals).

  3. Designing novel entertaining and enjoyable ways to raise environmental awareness and educate through radically innovative guest experiences, reducing tourism impact on the natural systems, increasing access by extending underwater experiences on land and generating opportunities for net positive conservation impact. These include, but are not limited to zoological garden services such as interior or exterior coral gardens.

As an environmental consultancy, sustainability is at the heart of all activities undertaken by OR. We are committed to sustainability, and embed the use of environmental friendly materials for our restoration solutions, aiming to reduce our carbon emissions through every step.

EXPERTISE.

Under KAUST flag, OR team members have been the driving force and technical lead in the conceptualization and initial planning of the worlds largest coral gardening project at Shushah Island, NEOM, Saudi Arabia. This project is not only the most ambitious of its kind, but also aims to realize the most comprehensive and advanced approach undertaken to date, that includes concepts for the sustainable harvesting of corals and the most extensive land-based coral farm conceived to date. The backbone of this innovative project are the Maritechture™ technologies, invented by our team.
